Our History
In June of 2021, a small group of neighbors got together to form a grassroots organization to help protect our county’s remaining urban trees.
All Are Welcome
Treekeepers of Washington County strives for green spaces that are safe and healthy for all. We understand how important it is to include everyone in the conversation and planning of Washington County’s natural environment. We strive for empathy and respect for all.
We would like to acknowledge that we are on the traditional land of the first people of Washington County, Oregon, the Atfalati Kalapuyans, also called the Tualatin people. We honor with gratitude the land itself and the Atfalati Kalapuyan Tribe and hope to soon include members in our core team as we know these first people have always respected natural resources and can teach us a great deal about how to better understand how to best achieve these goals.
We realize that not everyone has equal access to trees and parks. Systemic barriers have historically disenfranchised communities with neighborhoods that are underinvested. We are committed to encouraging all our neighbors to participate in identifying the needs of their communities and the policies and programs they want.
We welcome anyone wishing to join TreekeepersWC for the betterment of our neighbors, regardless of age, ability, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, political views or economic status.
Everyone is entitled to a healthy green environment. Together we will work toward that goal.
