Neighborhood Meetings

Developers must host neighborhood meetings for most urban projects. A neighborhood meeting notice is not a formal land use application.  A neighborhood meeting is required to be held by the developer for certain types of land use applications PRIOR to submitting an application for land development to the County (Type III and above).  If you receive a notice in the mail, it is because you live within 1000 feet of a piece of property that someone is considering for development.

The purpose of the neighborhood meeting is for the developer and neighbors to discuss the project in an informal setting to answer questions, share ideas, concerns, etc. The developer will then determine whether to move forward and submit an application. It is important to be aware that what is presented at the neighborhood meeting may (and often does) change. This is part of the purpose of the meeting. Often the developer can make modifications to the design, landscaping, and so forth to address specific concerns raised by residents at the neighborhood meeting.

Once a formal application is submitted and deemed complete, the project information is placed in the Land Use Projects website.

Neighborhood meeting notifications

Neighborhood meetings are not coordinated by the County. If there are questions about the information in any of the notices, please contact the contact person listed on the notice directly as the County staff does not have specific project information until a formal application is submitted.

Applicants of Type III,  IV and V  land use applications are required to hold a neighborhood meeting. Find out about neighborhood meeting requirements: Neighborhood Meeting Packet. Following case file review, a Notice of Decision will be issued. Decision dates will vary depending on procedure type (Type I, Type II, or Type III).
