Washington County Land Use
Process

Washington County has 3 separate departments to manage Land Use:

Community Planning/Long Range Planning:

Maintains the County’s Comprehensive Plan and update the Community Development Code, 

Comprehensive Framework Plan for the Urban Areas, Rural/Natural Resource Plan, Community Plans and Urban Planning Area Agreements.

Development Review/Current Planning

Works with developers, consultants and the public reviewing all development proposals to make sure they meet requirements in the Community Development Code.

Transportation Planning

Prepares and updates Washington County’s 20-year transportation plan.  Prepares travel forecasting, oversees the countywide Transportation Development Tax and bicycle and pedestrian planning. Works with Metro and Oregon Department of Transportation on regional transportation issues.
