Tree-Friendly Habitat

Why Protect trees?

The trees in our yards, neighborhoods and cities are living infrastructure, offering habitat to countless plants and animals while enriching our lives. Trees provide invaluable benefits, repaying us many times over for care and protection. They purify the air we breathe, cool and shade our homes, reduce the impacts of flooding, and help filter pollution. Trees also mitigate air, noise, and light pollution, offer significant health benefits, and enhance the beauty and tranquility of our neighborhoods. Their presence fosters a sense of community and even increases property values. By nurturing and protecting trees, we ensure they can continue to support people, wildlife, and the environment for generations to come.

What is a Tree-Friendly Habitat?

A Tree-friendly habitat is a place where trees are valued as a vital part of the ecosystem, supporting all living creatures through the essential services they provide. â€‹Whether the trees in your care are in your yard, in a public space, or in pots on your balcony, we welcome you to join us in protecting trees.

To protect the trees in my habitat, I pledge to:

  1. Do my best to keep my trees.

  2. Use best practices for tree care.

  3. Hire a trusted arborist to help make the best decisions for my trees.

  4. Spread the word about the many benefits of trees.
